Richard Aldington
Born on July 8 1892, Edward Goodfree Aldington commonly known as Richard
Aldington was a poet,novelist, critic and biographer who gave 50 years
of his life to literature. He got his fame from his association with imagist
group. The group was the key to the starting of his success. His father
was a solicitor and his parents who themselves were writers had a big library
of their book collection. Richard had writing skills from his genes. He
loved to collect butterflies, hiking and learning new languages. He had done
masters in French, Italian,Latin and ancient Greek. While Richard Aldington
was studying at Dover college, University of London, his father died because
of heart problems at the age of 56.He wasn't able to complete his degree
because if financial issues after his father's death. He used to work as a
sports journalist with small allowance. Soon he started publishing his poetry
in British Journals because of which he started to get some recognition and
met great poets like William Butler Yeats. His work "Death of a hero" is
so remarkable and always will be.
In this book he wrote his semi autobiography.
His work was so amazing that a movie was also made on one of his books.
He spent his last year's in Sury. His last book was a biography on
Frederic Mistral. After being honoured in Moscow on the occasion of
his 70th birthday he
died on 27july 1962. After his death his work become very popular in USSR . He
was buried in local cementery in sury. A man of deep faith and perseverance,
Richard Aldington inspired millions of people to work hard in order to achieve
their goals.
